The Arrowsmith Program, a sanctuary. A paradise for broken social rejects like myself. Here, I’m accepted, taught to fly, grow in my own way, at my own pace. Throw all your heart and soul into the training, and the seeds of your labor will bear rapid fruits. After the program, short it may be, but by tremendous leaps and bounds have I and my loved ones seen my growth; as an individual, mentally, emotionally, holistically.
The exercises may seem tough, hours long and boring to many, especially the young and restless. But for someone who’s been scorned, bullied, and emotionally scarred due to learning difficulties, this is my salvation.
Each time I face work back in Singapore, my brain encounters less hardships, the process grows smoother, and what took ages to do, flies by at lightning speed. My year in the program is so limited and squeeze every drop from it, I shall.

Hi Hugo,
Just wanted to send you a quick update and say how thrilled we are with the program!!
Our (two girls) are both very different from a few months ago. They are both very calm, funny and easy going girls who seem to have lost their frustration which we are so happy about. K just got 2nd in her Maths class with 92% in an exam and has had some other good results. The biggest change in her is her confidence and happiness. She hasn’t missed a day of school and goes off very willingly which wasn’t the case before… We had tantrums, tears, and a very troubled little girl curled up in a dressing gown questioning herself. A teacher at the school didn’t know what we had done overseas and said she has seen K around the school grounds and looks so confident. She is also accepting our help with her school work which she wouldn’t do before.
Z is amazing, so beautiful and patient. She was quite frustrated, snappy and stressed before the program and now she is studying hard and finding she can actually remember her notes. She is so excited and was actually looking forward to these exams that she is now half way through. She finds her memory is amazing and she has actually finished every exam with 10 minutes to spare to check over her work. Before Arrowsmith she couldn’t’ even get half way through her exam. She also couldn’t get all the data off the board in a lesson & would take friends notes home to copy and catch up. First day back to school and she was the first to copy the PE notes down and answer the teachers questions & classmates asked to take her notes home so they could catch up!!
We are so happy to give our girls this opportunity & now would like to bring the other 3 over to do it too :)))

Dear Hugo,
I just thought I would email and give you a little update on (our daughter).
(She) is a changed girl at school. All her teachers have noticed a new level of confidence and understanding of the world of conversations around her.
She is the youngest in the Arrowsmith group and is on the 3rd highest level in the group. The 2 ahead are in yr6 (She’s in yr3). You can imagine (her) pride here I’m sure! We are so proud of her.
(Her) reading comprehension has also greatly improved. I’m not sure if your familiar with the YARC assessment or not, but it’s basically is a test of reading age proficiency compared to her chronological age. Before…she was measuring at 5yrs of age or below for her comprehension. After…her Arrowsmith teacher re did the test and she came out at 6.8yrs. That’s a pretty big improvement!
She also got an Arrowsmith classroom record this week achieving 16 mastery’s in the one day! She is flying through (the exercises) and seems to all of a sudden to be making great progress.
(Our daughter) got a lot from the intensive in Thailand. We are seriously considering bringing her younger sister in a couple of years time!
Thanks again.

We let our 8-year-old son start full time Arrowsmith Program last year. He was the youngest among the students who can join the program. It wasn’t easy for him to concentrate for 40-minute sessions and he couldn’t show good progress for the first 6 months. We felt a bit disappointed and thought maybe it wasn’t the right time for our son.
However, his teachers never gave up. They had a strong belief in our son and the program and kept trying many different strategies for him. Such as sensory diet which gives him a short physical exercise (jumping or skipping) between the sessions, coin system which he can achieve a few coins depending on his efforts in each session, using a balance ball as a chair etc. And finally, they decided to divide a 40-minute session into two 20-minute sessions.
All these efforts produced a great change. Our son became more focused and his scores got better and better. At the final assessment of the year, he actually showed a big progress in many fields. We found even a huge jump in some field such as from very severe to almost average. He made a progress even in the field which he didn’t actually do the session.
Meanwhile, the teachers set the regular meetings with us, parents to share our son’s current situation and discuss the strategy to make it better. We were encouraged a lot by their warm words and thoughts. We felt how seriously they care about their students.
They are genuinely sincere to seek the best way for their students. They don’t just fulfill their duties. They try much more than that.
The Arrowsmith Program itself is truly powerful. However, we need to emphasize the more amazing fact is the teachers’ passion and devotion here. Your children and yourselves can have the genuine trust and bond with the teachers.
Sincerely Yours,
K, Arrowsmith Parent
